Francisco García Morán: “We believe that an open source is a good thing, we believe that we have a very good ecosystem of commercial and open source software (…) and it is a perfect combination to go for the future”
European Interoperability Framework (EIF) favours open source technology. Our guest explains that member states are not obliged to use specific software but can choose to use standard specification proposed by the Commission. He also talks about different advantages of open and propriety software but stresses that: “whenever we are going to release an application for member states, we tend to release them based on the open source because we do not want to impose any kind of licence”.
