InterviEUw with Robert Madelin, Director General DG INFSO, European Commission.

Duration 10'37''

Director General of DG INFSO about broadband and making Europeans digital

Our Digital Assembly Week we start with an interview with Mr. Madelin from Information Society and Media DG at the European Commission who shares his views regarding:

  • Access to broadband
  • Black-spots
  • Digital dividend
  • Spectrum crunch
  • Roaming
  • Copyright
  • Internet Safety

Director General is convinced that every European will be digital, it is only a question of time. One of the main obstacles to make it happen is lack of access to the Internet of people living in the rural areas and those who have not yet switched to “digital thinking”.

He also finds a problem of Internet Safety very important and stresses that: “Internet is not a parallel universe. People when surfing expect the same sorts of rights, responsibilities, degree of safety that they experience in the real world.”
