Irish Minister hopeful for EU deal on Data Protection by June

March 24, 2015 - ICT

Leading tech journalist Jennifer Baker is joined by Dara Murphy, Irish Minister of State at the Departments of the Taoiseach and Foreign Affairs with Special Responsibility for European Affairs and Data Protection, to discuss the reform of the EU Data Protection Regulation.

Now that Ministers found a partial agreement at the last Data Protection Council on Friday 13 March, Murphy is hopeful that Member States can finalise a deal at the next Council meeting in June.

In this exclusive interview, Ireland’s Minister for Data Protection welcomes the Council agreement on a one-stop shop approach, but regrets the approach chosen with regard to the appeal process for disputed cases.
