Brussels Briefing on Tech – All you need to know for April 2016

A quick look ahead at what is going to be on the ICT world agenda this month. First up, the Commission holding a public consultation on copyright, meaning that the long-awaited reform package will yet again be delayed. Could this be the ad hoc opportunity to revamp one of its controversial hot topic, ancillary copyright? Second, a few months after the revision of  the cross-border portability of online content services proposal, Competition Commissioner Vestager seems to be willing to gear up and open up the market further. A step closer to the end of geoblocking? In other news, the ePrivacy Directive is to be reformed this year and the PNR package is likely to be voted on during April’s plenary session… Finally, despite the absence of EU-level proposals on encryption, the FBI vs Apple case is definitely something to watch out for.
