The European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) at Europol in The Hague was opened on 11 January 2013. EC3 aims to become the focal point in the EU’s fight against cybercrime, through building operational and analytical capacity for investigations and cooperation with international partners. Leading ICT journalist, Jennifer Baker, met with Troels Oerting, Head of European Cybercrime Centre, to discuss cyber security and EC3’s work.
“So first of all we will harden the infrastructure, secondly we will create more awareness, but then we will also need to make it unattractive to be a criminal and right now it’s a free-ride.”
