Structure of banks: Commission looking at different options, explains Nadia Calviño

In an exclusive interview with viEUws,  Nadia Calviño, Deputy Director General of DG Internal Market, talks to John Rega, Chief Correspondent MLex FS, about the awaited legislative proposal by the European Commission on the structure of banks.

The Commission is currently working on its legislative proposal for a structural reform of EU banks which will define rules on the separation (or prohibition) of different banking activities. It is looking at  diverging options of structural reforms of banks being implemented in different Member States (France, Germany and the UK) and in the United States. According to Calviño,: “I cannot say that one is more privileged than the other at that stage“.
