Matthew Newman, senior correspondent at MLex, is joined by MEP Morten Messerschmidt (ECR) – rapporteur of the Parliament’s Annual Report on EU Competition Policy – to discuss the ongoing Google antitrust case.
Messerschmidt underlines that it is unacceptable for a company, consumers and the market to be waiting so long for a decision on the Google case. However, the Danish MEP also believes that the Parliament should not intervene in competences which are exclusively reserved to the Commission. In his report Messerschmidt urges the Commission to resolve the Google case and move forward with its other competition probes.
