EU Tweets of the Week: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly – 4 March 2016

March 3, 2016 - EU Institutions

Jennifer Baker presents EU Tweets of the Week, looking at the good, the bad and the ugly in the European Union Twittersphere this week:

  • Most debated: Is Europe facing a humanitarian crisis? While countries are building fences and police firing teargas to migrants, the European Commission proposed to grant €700 million in aid set to be granted to Greece and other frontline countries to help them deal with the migration crisis.
  • The Good: Following the Volkswagen scandal, the new Emission inquiry committee (EMIS) held its first meeting last Wednesday. Will this Committee bring full transparency and get to the bottom of the problem?
  • The Bad: US TV channel CNN confused Australia with Austria when trying to explain the refugee crisis. Investigation journalism at its finest…
  • The Ugly: We have a riddle for you: who is this fluffy creature walking in the Parliament? You do not know? We neither!
