EU Tweets of the Week: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly – 11 March 2016
Jennifer Baker presents EU Tweets of the Week, looking at the good, the bad and the ugly in the European Union Twittersphere this week:
- Most debated: Last Monday’s EU-Turkey Summit was, far and away, the biggest topic of the week. Decisions taken during the summit sparked controversial reactions on and offline.
- The Good: On Tuesday, the Council reached a consensus on its position on a draft directive on the exchange of tax-related information on the activities of multinational companies.
- The Bad: The European Parliament came under fire for a plan to spend €3m on limos and whopping €116,000 on uniforms – a serious fashion faux-pas.
- The Ugly: Greek MEP Eleftherios Synadinos was kicked out of the Strasbourg plenary for violating rules against racist speech. They do say silence is golden!
