2015 Commission Work Programme: scrapped proposals should “be brought forward in the near future” emphasises ECR Group

December 15, 2014 - EU Institutions

Jennifer Baker is joined by James Holtum, spokesperson for the ECR Group, to discuss the 2015 European Commission Work Programme.

On 16 December, the Commission work programme for 2015 will be adopted by the College of Commissioners. Just after the adoption, MEPs will discuss the programme with President Juncker and 1st Vice President Frans Timmermans. According to a leaked draft, 80 pieces of pending EU legislation will be withdrawn. Holtum believes that some of these proposals, such as the air quality package, do not need to be scrapped. Accordingly, the ECR Group hopes that the Commission will put withdrawn proposals back on the table in the near future.
