On 12 November 2012 the European Commission proposed to ‘stop the clock’ on international aviation in the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) until after the 2013 International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) General Assembly next autumn. Peter Liese MEP, Rapporteur on the original proposal to include aviation in the EU ETS and Rapporteur on the latest proposal to stop the application of the ETS for international flights, speaks to leading environment journalist, Sonja van Renssen, about international aviation and emission reductions.
