2030 Climate and Energy Framework will foster innovation, claims Climate Commissioner Hedegaard
Leading environment and climate journalist Sonja van Renssen is joined by Climate Commissioner Connie Hedegaard for an exclusive interview on the interaction between competitiveness and the 2030 Energy and Climate Framework.
In this interview, European Commissioner Hedegaard explains why climate policy should not be blamed for deindustrialisation and hampering competitiveness. “Energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors, during the crisis were among the sectors that created more jobs“, argues Hedegaard. Moreover, the Commissioner claims that putting a price on carbon can stimulate innovation: “Industry players will have to stand on the tips of their toes, but that is how innovation and efficiency are fostered”.
