Energy Union: “nuclear energy and shale gas should not be ruled out” from decarbonisation, argues ECR Group

February 24, 2015 - Energy

Jennifer Baker is joined by James Holtum, spokesperson for the ECR Group, to discuss the perspectives for the Energy Union and how this strategy should be implemented in practice.

The European Commission will present the Energy Union framework strategy on Wednesday 25 February. Key goal of this Energy Union is to establish a single energy market across the European Union, ensuring that no country depends on “one energy supplier”, the ECR Group spokesperson explains. Holtum also stresses the importance of decarbonising the EU’s energy market, which could be achieved through the better use of indigenous energy sources, including nuclear energy and shale gas.
