Women quotas: ECR group calls for national regulations for boardrooms

Jennifer Baker is joined by James Holtum, spokesperson for the ECR Group, to present the position of his group on the European Parliament’s aim to establish quotas in boardrooms.

Since corporate boards are still dominated by men the EU is pushing for binding rules that at least 40% of non-executive boards members at EU-listed companies are women in order to promote gender equality in enterprises. Holtum’s group wants to see more women on boardrooms but is not sure whether binding quotas as proposed by the European Commission are the right way to achieves this and pleads for national regulations.
