Jennifer Baker is joined by Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen – spokeswoman of the European Commission – to discuss European Union actions aimed at stabilising the Ebola crisis, in light of the European Summit taking place on 23 and 24 October.

First of all, the Commission believes that an effective response is needed on the ground in West Africa, which is at the heart of Ebola with over 9,216 people infected (as of 17 October). EU humanitarian assistance and coordinated efforts will be strengthened, an extra €30 million in funding was made available by the Commission to deal with the deadly virus.
