Marietje Schaake 15 July 2014 plenary speech on Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).
The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) is a centrist political group in the European Parliament forming part of the stable majority. It comprises Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) from both the ALDE and EDP parties and aims to work for reform of the EU institutions’ structures, methods and policies to make Europe stronger and more relevant in those areas where it can bring real added value.
We are a strong centre force with a pro-European political agenda. All European countries are facing multiple international challenges, whether in terms of economic recession, collapse of major cross-border banking institutions, climate change, international terrorism or security of energy supplies.
Liberals and Democrats are at the forefront of an ambitious policy agenda and seek to create a strong and secure European Union with high standards of public health, consumer protection and human rights. We aim to build and safeguard a free, fair and open society.
We stand for a new, greener more competitive economy utilising new skills and new technologies and providing prosperity and job opportunities.
